The 3-day Sahara Desert tour from Fes begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation or the airport in Fes. We drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, renowned for its cool climate, snow, and alpine-style houses—earning it the nickname “Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we continue to the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques, where you can enjoy feeding them while exploring the woods.

Our journey then takes us to Midelt for lunch before heading towards the Sahara Desert, traversing the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and following the Ziz River. By afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll switch to camels and ride across the sandy desert. You’ll pause atop a high dune to witness the magical sunset before continuing to the luxury desert camp. Here, you can enjoy Berber drum music and dance around the campfire under a vast, star-studded sky. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 2Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove

Waking up early is essential to witness the breathtaking sunrise in the middle of the desert. After some free time for breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting. We dedicate this day to exploring the incredible region of Merzouga, with its stunning sand dunes, wild lake, mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases, perfect for various outdoor activities.

Our journey begins with an off-road drive to visit an ancient kohl (eyeliner) mine. Next, we visit nomads in their handmade woven tents, learning about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea. Our next stop is Khamlia village, where you’ll experience traditional Gnaoua music and dance performances. The village’s inhabitants are originally from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After some free time for lunch at a local restaurant, we take a stroll through a palm grove and then drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel.

Day 3Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Ziz valley – Ifrane – Fes

Wake up early to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. After some free time for breakfast, you’ll return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting. We then leave the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a major trading center in the region, with a bustling souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the lively Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossilized marble workshops.

Next, we drive along the Ziz River and stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. We continue through the cedar forest and Ifrane to reach Fes, where we will drop you off at the airport or your accommodation, marking the end of our 3-day Sahara desert tour from Fes.
